What responsibility do all humans have? Do we have a moral obligation or responsibility to ensure the survival of the human race? Is there something that we should be doing for our survival as a species and to be able to tell the stories of our existence to future generations or even other species?
History has a tendency to repeat itself. Earth has already had multiple mass extinctions that left clues of the past that could be “warning signs” of the future. We discovered fossils of animals of the past that no longer exist today. Entire civilizations like Pompeii that have been terminated from Earth by a single Volcano. Dinosaurs were wiped out multiple times by single large asteroids. Factors that were out of any animal’s or human’s control. Humans have gained the ability of developing tools to contour and shape the surrounding land and nature to meet human needs rather than coexisting with nature. Even food has been genetically engineered to be able to feed more humans. Theoretically we have already exceeded the carrying capacity of Earth however we are still evolving to be able to sustain even more people. This ability has lead to the rapid colonization of the rest of the world.
Currently all Humans are dependent on Earth. Earth is our current centralized system for all known life and is vulnerable to catastrophic extinction. To prevent this humanity needs to spread out and decentralize the planet earth and colonize other planets or even solar systems. One way we prevented the loss of data and information is the golden record on the voyager 2000. This disc contains information that is said to summarize the entire human race.
However if humans colonize the stars but bring monetary systems based on a centralized Earth we would not survive in space. The human race’s survival hinges on the ability of humans to be able to cooperate and contribute to one another and work jobs that insure survival. Jobs would need to delegated by necessity rather than desire. To reach such a conclusion we should be able to figure out how to make everyone be able to contribute like a hive of bees.
Currently earth is living in a very wonderful time where not many people are worried of starvation or drinking water. However this can change in the blink of an eye. The in-habitability of Earth would mark the beginning of the extinction of the human race.
Centralized systems are comfortable because they require less effort. Shorter distance between resources = smaller displacement of objects = less mechanical work required.
The success of a race hinges on its ability to spread out. When space runs out in one place people start spreading out further and further to other places. Suburban environments changing to urban, desolate places becoming populated, and
Currently humans are spread out on earth centralized around rare resources allowing for trade and economy to grow cities. Centralized locations of information, and resources are a necessity for the human race to survive.
